The first test match between India and England at Leeds is going on in full swing, as both teams were able to make an impact from the very first day of the match. However, it was India who were completely dominating the English team on the very first day and carried that momentum into the second day, scoring 471 runs in total.
In the moment of tense cricket, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, and Shubman Gill’s stump mic conversation went viral.
Let’s look at what the conversation was and how the first test is going.
[TRENDING] The Viral Stump Mic Moment
It was not the first time that Rishab’s funny banter with his own team and opponent was caught on the stump mic. On Day 2 of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy on June 21, the cricketing world witnessed a similar moment from the past while wicketkeeping.
In a video posted by Star Sports on X, Pant reacted to a wide delivery from the veteran spinner, Ravindra Jadeja, as the ball went wide down the leg-side while England’s opener Ben Duckett was on the crease.
Pant was caught saying to Jadega, “Mai bhi khel raha hu bhai, apne chauke ke chakkar mein mera chaukka mat dedena’ (I am also playing, brother. In trying to save four, don’t give me four).”
The statement from the Pant referred to byes. Had it been a bit wider and failed to grab it, the ball would have gone past the boundary and counted as a mistake of a wicketkeeper, irrespective of how bad the delivery was from the bowler.
Similarly, the new captain of Team India, Shubman Gill, was also seen being vocal with his bowlers. Gill’s stump mic chat with Jadeja caught attention when Jadeja bowled a quick one on the middle and off, leaving Ben Duckett confused.
Immediately after that moment, Gill said to Jadega, “Abhi ye pura confused hai Jaddu bhai, kaunsi seedhi hai aur kaunsi udhar. Aayega iska!’ ( Now he’s completely confused, Jaddu brother; he doesn’t know which one will turn. He’ll get out soon!”
