As a five-Test series in England starting from June 20 at Leeds, the Indian team, now without senior players, is entering a new phase. While the fast bowlers are expected to lead the way, wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav believes spinners will also play a key role.Â
According to the Times of India, Kuldeep feels the conditions might favour spin as the series progresses, especially at grounds like The Oval and Old Trafford. To date, Kuldeep has only played one Test match in England before. As Hindustan Times reports, he is confident and hopeful ahead of this tour.Â
With India looking for their first series win in England since 2007, Kuldeep knows this could be his chance to shine and lead India’s spin attack in this new era.
Kuldeep Yadav Ready to Spin India to Victory Against England
As India gets ready for the Test series against England, all focus may be on the fast bowlers, but Kuldeep Yadav, the team’s only specialist spinner, is feeling optimistic.Â
Kuldeep told a media conference at Beckenham on Day 3 that he believes the pitches could still offer spinners enough to play a crucial role in the game.Â
With Ravichandran Ashwin now retired, Ravindra Jadeja has become the senior-most spinner in India’s spin department. Kuldeep shared that he is spending more time with Jadeja, both on and off the field.Â
Further, the spinner said, his bonding with Jadeja has helped him tactically in the game as well.
Reportedly, Kuldeep would not be seen in the series opener at Lord’s; however, he is expected to play at Birmingham, The Oval, and possibly Old Trafford.
With several senior players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ashwin missing from the lineup, this marks a new era for Indian cricket. And, it’s been nearly two decades since India last won a Test series in England in 2007, but this young squad might just be ready to begin a new era in Indian cricket.

I’m hopeful he will leave a big mark on the upcoming tournament.
