Veteran Indian spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin, who announced his retirement from international cricket in December, has been headlining different media outlets after he decided to play franchise cricket around the world. Having opted out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well, Ashwin is set to sign his very first contract in the upcoming season of ILT20 (International League T20).Â
In this context, Ashwin has reportedly entered his first ILT20 auction with a whopping base price of USD 120,000, approximately INR 1.06 crore, the highest for any player in the inaugural season.
Ashwin’s Whooping Base Price at the ILT20 Auction
The former Indian spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin, is all set to make a banger entry in his inaugural season of ILT20 after he got drafted in the upcoming ILT20 auction happening on October 1 in Dubai. Organized by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), this season has managed to garner the much-needed attention as compared to previous seasons. Ashwin entered the ILT20 auction with a starting price of $120,000, breaking the record for the highest base price for any player in the tournament.Â
Similarly, along with Ashwin, there are 23 Indian players to be featured in the tournament, with about 800 players across the world. As per the reports published by ESPNcricinfo, a final list of players will be presented to the ILT20 when the wishlist is prepared by the respective franchise.Â

Ashwin has affirmed the complete availability of the tournament and will probably be part of the Big Bash League (BBL) in Australia after the ILT20, with a number of teams already indicating their willingness to sign him to play in the second half of the season.
Ashwin holds more than 500 Test wickets and extensive experience in limited-overs formats, and his presence will provide the league with both talent and star power. The cricket enthusiasts in the UAE will be very keen to see him playing in this new phase of his career.

ILT20 Auction Scenario
The ILT20 auction will be held on October 1 in Dubai, and the fourth edition of the ILT20 will be hosted from December 2, 2025, to January 4, 2026. The six franchises will be involved in the construction of their teams, and each team will have to invest USD 1.5 to USD 2 million.
Besides the main auction, each team can contract up to two wildcard players at a total cost of USD 250,000. Every franchise has to compile a team of 19 to 21 (not including the wildcards). Among them, there must be at least 11 players who are the citizens of ICC Full Member countries, four players are required to be UAE citizens, one player must be a Kuwaiti citizen, one Saudi Arabian citizen, and two players must be citizens of other ICC Associate countries.
The minimum prices of players are USD 10,000, USD 40,000, and USD 80,000, respectively, and registration between July and September forms a final list of the auction. At the time of the auction, the players will be divided according to their category and role, with players of Full Member nations being selected first.
