Online poker rooms ban players for any number of reasons, including collusion, multi-accounting, and abusive chat. But as Tim Robinson’s character would say in the “Baby Cries” sketch of his brilliant show, I Think You Should Leave, people can change. GGPoker understands this, too, which is why it recently announced what it calls its “Olive Branch Initiative.”
In its announcement, the world’s largest online poker room said that while it still has zero tolerance for anyone violating its Security and Ecology Policy, “Players who once contributed unsportsmanlike behavior may have since evolved, learned from their mistakes, and developed a genuine commitment to fair play.”
Enter the Olive Branch Initiative, which gives banned players an opportunity for reinstatement.
sometimes, players deserve the opportunity to demonstrate their growth”
“We understand circumstances can be complex, and sometimes, players deserve the opportunity to demonstrate their growth,” GGPoker said.
To apply for reinstatement, former GGPoker players must e-mail security@ggnetwork.com from the registered e-mail address on their account and include their GGPoker screenname, full name, an explanation of why they would like to be reinstated, proof of identity (a driver’s license, for example), a selfie of themselves holding said proof of identity, and proof of address.
The Olive Branch Initiative is apparently not a permanent fixture, or at least not a year-round thing. Banned players must apply by October 1 and will be notified of GGPoker’s decision by November 1. GGPoker has emphasized that application does not guarantee reinstatement – everyone is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
