The CuraƧao Gaming Authority (CGA) has granted a six-month extension for provisional āGreen Sealā B2C and B2B licences, allowing approved operators to continue operating until 24 December.
This decision comes despite the new regulatory framework taking effect in December, which phases out licences issued under the old system. Initially, provisional licences granted under the National Ordinance for Games of Chance (LOK) were set to expire on 24 June. However, the CGA will now provide an extension for select operators, with updated licences to be issued by 27 June. The extension is intended to give these operators more time to align with the new compliance standards. Those who meet the necessary requirements by the end of the period may qualify for a full licence.
CGA mentioned:
Operators licensed by or after 25 December 2024 should be compliant or show significant progress in relation to their issued checklists including additional requirements under LOK during the first six-month period from the date of issuance of their provisional licence.
An extension of up to a maximum of six months, or the issuance of a full licence, will depend on the level of progress demonstrated by the operator.
The updated framework imposes significantly stricter regulatory obligations on both operators and suppliers. One key requirement is that operators must offer a dispute resolution portal to address player complaints and reduce the likelihood of legal escalation. Additionally, the new licensing regime aims to strengthen anti-money laundering (AML) measures and enhance the jurisdictionās reputation as a well-regulated and compliant gaming market.
